Email Blacklist Check Guide
Blacklist checks compare a sending IP or domain against reputation lists. A listing can affect delivery, but it should be read with authentication, reverse DNS, sending behavior, and bounce messages.
What A Listing Means
- Some receivers may distrust or reject mail from the listed sender.
- Not every blacklist has the same impact.
- A domain listing and an IP listing can have different causes.
- Old listings can remain after the real issue is fixed.
What To Check With It
- SPF, DKIM, and DMARC alignment.
- Reverse DNS and forward DNS consistency.
- Mail server compromise or unexpected sending volume.
- Bounce messages and SMTP rejection text.
Before Delisting
Fix the root cause first. Delisting a sender while spam, compromised credentials, or bad DNS remain active usually leads to another listing.
